A bluegrass fundraiser will be held this Saturday, June 17 at the Oostanaula School Community Club, located at 1595 Oostanaula Bend Road SW in Calhoun, to benefit the actual club building, the old Oostanaula Schoolhouse, which was built in 1927/1928.

The schoolhouse has been found to have termites and needs extermination to prevent damage to the building.

Beginning at 5 p.m. Saturday, a home cooked meal will be served with a meat and three, along with dessert and drink, for $6 per plate. Entertainment with live music begins at 6 p.m. and will include New Willow Creek Bluegrass and others. There will also be an auction, cakewalks, door prizes and raffles.

The club serves the community by holding dozens of fundraisers each year for various causes, including cancer fundraisers, hospital bill fundraisers and funeral cost fundraisers. The club does not make a profit; any monies made from fundraisers are donated.

The club does rent the building for events such as birthday parties and reunions. Any money made from renting the club house goes toward utilities and upkeep of the building.

The community club is made up of members and workers who are all volunteer, and welcomes new members and volunteers. For more information, call Barbara Talley, secretary, at 770-608-2050; Johnny Debty, president, at 770-796-2289 or Jerry Ables at 706-844-3484.
